About the colts section

With a colts membership of around 300, we coach boys and girls of all age groups in either our foundation programme or as representatives of the club in one of our many aged group squads. With 18 UKCC Level 1, 2 and 3 coaches in 2011 we have a strong coaching team all of whom are appropriately CRB checked and have attended Child Protection and Life Saving courses.

The colts season formally runs from the end of April through to the end of July. Many managers and coaches continue throughout the school summer holiday, and where this happens there is no additional membership charge for this period.

Foundation group

The club holds a very successful foundation programme on Sunday mornings from 10:00 am to 12.00 noon (April to August - see calendar for details). Sessions are open to all boys and girls under 11 (school years up to year 6) and who want to learn to play cricket in a fun and safe environment. To join turn up on any Sunday morning before 10:00 am. Please bring with you the completed application form (see below). Although we will ask for a cheque for membership (see below) we won't cash it for a couple of weeks just to make sure the new member settles in first. Colts' teams

Boys and girls are selected from the foundation group to represent the club at Under 10 (A and B) and Under 11. Squad selection takes place during early April with further continuous assessment throughout the season.

Under 13 (A, B and C), Under 15 (A and B) and Under 17 squads are selected through continuous assessment over the previous season. We are only taking new membership applications into these squads from young cricketers who have a "high quality" playing record with another club or their school and who are able to successfully trial for a place. The under 10 to under 15 squads train most Friday nights during the summer. The under 17 squad trains on a Thursday with the seniors. Keep an eye on the club calendar to check training times.

Girls at Ickenham

Girls in school years up to and including year 6 join our Foundation Group (see above).

For older girls we enter three teams at under 11, under 13 and under 15 into the Seaxes League. We are committed to promoting girls and ladies cricket and this means that some of our school year 6 girls in the Foundation Group will be able to represent the club in the girl's under 11 team.

This success is a result of the MCB targeting Ickenham as the key club for prospective girls and ladies to go to in the west of the County for development and training.

All girls are also assessed for selection to represent the club alongside boys. Additionally, under ECB rules girls may play in the 'boys' teams two years below their age group unless they have represented their county.

Older girls will also have every opportunity to play in our ladies senior team.

Girls in school years 7 and above, and those selected to represent the club in the under 11s will train on Wednesday evenings (5.30 pm to 7 pm) (April to August - see calendar for details.

Girls of all abilities are welcome to join, especially those who are new to the game of cricket. Please contact the for further information.

Family membership

Boys and girls join the club through a Family membership. All members of the immediate family are welcome to enjoy the club's facilities. Membership fees are £65 (plus £20 for each additional sibling attending colts training) for the calendar year 2012.
